Unshakable Hope

“Life Goes On”

Whether we’re going through the worst of times or the best of times, history and our own experiences show us that life does go on. This is true, but I don’t recommend saying “life goeson” to someone who is grieving the loss of a loved one.

“There is an appointed time for everything.
And there is a time for every event under heaven —
A time to give birth and a time to die…
A time to weep and a time to laugh;
A time to mourn and a time to dance.” (Ecclesiastes 3:1-4)

I thought about the above passage last week when our daughter gave birth to a beautiful seven pound girl on Wednesday, then a close friend died of cancer on Friday – “A time to give birth and a time to die.”

PLEASE HUG THEM (for those who are hurting)
Tears are welling up inside
I see so much around me
Turmoil, sadness, unbelief
Too much for this heart to see

Children crying, some dying
Hunger, thirst, poverty
No love given, no love there
Vacant eyes stare distantly

Chorus
There are so many hurting
So many feeling hopeless
So many lost, abandoned
Sick and dying
And I’m too far away
So all I can do is pray
God, please hug your loved ones
Those in need, today
Please hug them Lord in Jesus’ name
And take their pain away

Women lost without their homes
Men despair without income
Families torn, separated
Floods, fires and storms make them numb

Watching death take victory
Among them that are so close
Feeling left behind and worthless
Overwhelmed by each new dose

Lord, When I’m Afraid

LORD, WHEN I’M AFRAID

Lord, when I’m afraid,

Help me walk by faith,

Hold my hand, dear Jesus,

And keep me ever safe;

Though I cannot see You,

Help me feel You near,

And trust that You are holding me

So help me not to fear.

Though my path may lead

Through the raging storm,

Hold me through the wind and waves,

And keep me safe, oh Lord,

In Jesus’ name, amen.

*Thank You, Heavenly Father, that though we cannot see You with us on our path, You see us, and no matter what trials we might be facing right now, Thy word promises that beneath us are Your everlasting arms. We can trust Thy word for Jesus said, “Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My word shall never pass away.” You are ever faithful and will be with us through every storm no matter how fierce. Thy word says that we only need to trust and believe in You. I ask for You to give each of us more faith to believe, more grace to weather our challenges, and more hope as we cling to Your everlasting arms that are bearing each one of us, thank You Lord, in Jesus’ name, amen.
