My Signature Testimony~Part One~

~Learning The Gospel In Truth

For years I asked the Lord to help me gain a deeper grasp of the Gospel. Receiving Christ as my Savior and later being baptized in Church while still in my teens, I remember that though I had been taught the basic tenets of the Christian Gospel, I still had but a vague grasp of its meaning.

For years it often seemed that I was only swimming in shallow waters, not comprehending the deeper significance of all that salvation meant for the Christian.

While mentally agreeing with Christianity’s fundamental tenets, I strove to understand what had impelled the early martyrs to lay down their lives for the sake of the Gospel, when it seemed in today’s culture the Church could not even hold on to its traditional Christian name, but universally melted it down to the noncommittal “believers.”

After I prayed for more insight, the Holy Spirit led me to do things that never made sense ~like singing for Christ, when I was quite sure I had no musical gifts, ~and then of all things ~share those talents in public !!! ~when I would much rather not have done any such thing opposed to my overwhelmingly shy, timid nature.

Singing, creating music for the Lord, and sharing this gift was the first martyr like thing the Lord led me to do as He began teaching me how to comprehend the Gospel.

All of which reminds me of my mother for it was during this time of year that she passed away in 2020. Mama was not pleased if I did anything that went beyond the realm of our private lives. She preferred me to focus on my art and writing. I always was anxious to please my parents. To do anything that they did not agree with unsettled me.

Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone desires to come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. 16.25  For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, and whoever will lose his life for my sake will find it.

“…  For what will it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his life? Or what will a man give in exchange for his life? Luke 16:24-26 (World English Bible)

This is eternal life, to know You God and Your Son Jesus Christ.” See John 17:3

In this I had to really pray for discernment. Was this music gift of God?

How could it be of God if Mama does not like me doing anything in public? She absolutely despised social networking. She was not open to me having an online shop. It seemed everything she did not want were the very things the Lord led me to pursue at the time. Alas!

You are too delicate! She would caution… alas… but I realized she was concerned that these things were not in line with my nature.

And yet, Mama became my greatest encourager once I did the thing the Lord led me to do! That was the wonderful thing about her. Once it was done, she approved and was a great blessing to me! I loved how once Mama learned about a thing the Lord led me to do, she was no longer afraid of it.

I fervently prayed the Lord could help me comprehend all that His Gospel means for the Christian. His word promises He gives wisdom to all who ask. (See James 1)

The Lord inspired me to meditate on the Gospel of Salvation in Christ as I began to attach my name to the works He asked me to complete.

In doing this, I began to understand the significance of laying my life down for Christ and to experience persecution unlike I ever had known before.

The first thing I noticed (and it happens every time I use this signature) is that I fall far short of that standard to which people whether consciously or unconsciously hold people up to when they bear Christ’s name, and the verses that supported how I believed the Lord was asking me to glorify Him.

I was reminded of all my imperfections, unworthiness to do God’s work, etc. But then the Lord reminded me of this: that God had only one perfect child, Jesus.

All the rest of us His redeemed are forgiven (in Christ) yet we are given His righteousness through His sacrifice for us on the cross.

“So we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God is pleading through us: “Please, won’t you come back and be God’s friend?”

God made Jesus, who never personally sinned, experience the consequences of sin so that we could have a character that is good and right just as God is good and right.” 2 Corinthians 5:20-21 FBV

(“If we claim to be sinless we only fool ourselves, and the truth is not in us. But if we confess our sins, he is trustworthy and right so that he can forgive us our sins and make us clean from all that is not right in us. If we claim we haven’t sinned, we turn him into a liar, and his word is not in us.”

1 John 1:8-10 FBV

One time not long after I received Christ as my Savior, I was about eighteen years old, and my father had been struggling with ill health, and Mama was stressed over many things.

I had been busy all that morning trying to get ready for a community college class (this was the year directly after I graduated from high school just before I left home to go away to college. My dad had not wanted me to leave just yet.)

Mama was busy vacuuming the dining room and she was fretting over something but I had not realized this. I don’t remember what happened but when I came into the kitchen, she said something and I said something, and she broke down, truly upset, disappointed, accusing me: “I thought you were perfect!”

Astonished, confused and hurt more than anything else she could have said or done. “You should never have thought that!” I shouted, burst into tears and fled back to my room.

Riddled with guilt I could not pray till I repented for disrespecting Mama by speaking so to her.

Part of the Gospel is honoring your mother and father, ~one of the Ten Commandments.
My conscience would not let me dishonor Mama while at the same time claim that I loved Christ.

I had learned from the Bible that Jesus despised hypocrisy. How could I go to Church, face the Lord in prayer, or look Mama in the face when I acted so rudely toward my mom?

As I prayed I knew I loved her very much and desperately needed her forgiveness.

I prayed for the Lord to help me somehow be a better Christian for His namesake.

It was never easy then as I remember back to those long ago days, and it is never easy now in this world where we face so much opposition to our faith, myriad temptations to try our patience, even those who actually find joy in making us angry or stumble in our faith in some way.

We can rejoice though! For Jesus said, “In this world ye shall have tribulation. But be of good cheer! I have overcome the world.” See John 16:

We can also rejoice for the Word promises: “It is the Lord who works in us to will and to work of His Good pleasure. (*See Philippians 2:13)

I remembered this incident today as Mama is on my mind and there are so many things about the Gospel that one forgets.

One of the most important though is this; Christians are forgiven, and no one is perfect. We must never hold anyone up to a higher standard than we ourselves could ever live up to. None of us are God.

Paul wrote, “But we have this precious treasure [the good news about salvation] in [unworthy] earthen vessels [of human frailty], so that the grandeur and surpassing greatness of the power will be [shown to be] from God [His sufficiency] and not from ourselves.”

2 Corinthians 4:7 AMP

Jesus said, “Judge not lest ye be judged.” (Matthew 7:1)

We shall all stand before the Judgment seat of God. Perhaps today one of us shall meet Him face to face.

May we let Jesus be our righteousness. He paid the debt to God that none of us could ever repay. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life.”

Jesus is my righteousness. Not one of us are worthy of the grace He offers through His sacrifice for our sins and the redemption of our souls; Christ has paid our ransom for sin and death and adopted us into His holy family by His blood sacrifice on the cross.

When we receive His gift of salvation we are reborn into the family of the Living God. (See John 1)

May we give thanks to our wonderful God by loving Him and His precious children; celebrating all the wonderful gifts He gives each of us to share with each other that reflect His glorious majesty through our weak vessels He fashions into Trophies of His Amazing Grace in Christ Jesus.

Jesus said, “…this is My commandment that you Love one another as I have loved you. All shall know you are My disciples by your love for one another.” (See John 13:34-35)

In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Redeemed For Resurrection in Christ

All glory be to our wonderful Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for this latest instrumental album Redeemed for Resurrection in Christ ~Original Keyboard Instrumental Prayers! The newest release is the natural follow up to the instrumental album “Behold The Lamb released in February 2023.

While “Behold The Lamb” is a musical meditation on Christ, the Lamb of God who sacrificed His life by dying on the cross for the sins of humanity, the theme of Redeemed For Resurrection asks listeners to reflect on what redemption in Christ actually means for the soul who receives Jesus as their Savior.

The Lord has always given me the titles for each song to use for His albums.

The titles are often inspired by a scripture.

The Lord revealed to me several years ago that His instrumentals were musical conversations intended to ignite intimate conversations~ prayer ~between Himself and the precious souls who take them into their prayer closets. (*see Matthew 6:6)

But when you pray, you should go into your room and close the door. Then pray to your Father. He is there in that private place. He can see what is done in private, and he will reward you.”
‭‭Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬ ‭ERV‬‬

The verse~ the song, was as a flame, a light to stimulate His children to go to their bibles, to seek His face, and believe by faith that Christ will teach them through His Word, by His Holy Spirit. For “…faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.” Romans 10:17

The Lord has promised in His Word to reveal Himself to His children who believe in Him and keep His commandments.

Jesus said, He who has My commandments and keeps them is the one who loves Me; and he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and will disclose Myself to him.”

Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.” John 14:21, 23 NASB1995

And He promised “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28 NASB1995

One caveat if we are of a worldly mindset, ( here is the dictionary definition of worldly: *of or concerned with material values or ordinary life rather than a spiritual existence: ie~ “…his ambitions for worldly success”)

~ then the Lord stressed that worldliness would be that one factor that would bar the Holy Spirit from entering the door of their heart.

Jesus said, “If you love Me, you will keep My commandments, and I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may be with you forever; that is the Spirit of Truth, Whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him…” John 14:15-17 NASB

A worldly heart, Jesus told His followers, cannot see the Holy Spirit or ever know Him. It could not ever know or walk with God.

I pray always that the Lord Jesus will speak to many through the things He shares through me to those who find them scattered throughout the earth.

Those gifts are always meant to help His children seek His face through His Word and pray directly to Him.

I believe the Lord desires to have an intimate relationship with His children even as Enoch walked in such a way with God.

The scriptures say “And Enoch walked with God and he was not, for God took him…” Genesis 5:24

Enoch also believed God. Because of Enoch’s faith, God took him away to heaven. He did not die like other people. As a result, nobody could ever find him, because God had taken him away. Before God took him away, it was clear that Enoch had made God happy.”
‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭5‬ ‭EASY‬‬

Jesus said, ‘“This is eternal life that they might know God and Jesus Christ whom He has sent.” John 17:3

How can we know God if we don’t spend time with Him and read His Word?

The Lord had specifically said, “Do not self promote…”

All of the business models were in opposition to this plan. The Lord’s guidance did not make sense. “I don’t see how this will ever help Thy songs to reach Thy children,” I prayed. Of course He meant don’t self promote in the way the world does. Which seemed to be all the time. I was to share only as the Lord led me to share. He told me that when I published something to share His seeds and then whenever He asked me after that, but not until He said to.

But the Lord was always opposed to the never ending streams of commercial business advice and strategies for success that were ever being hurled at me.

So I just kept on doing what the Holy Spirit led me to do, ever relying on God’s Word, trusting that He who loved me would never fail me.

But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.” John 16:13 NASB1995

As far as the songs were concerned, I named them what the Holy Spirit led me to name them. For it was all His music.

The Lord said not to worry about trying to gain favor with the culture. I was to only care about God’s favor. All I had to do was to honor and obey Him.

The Lord impressed on my heart that what mattered to worldly vanity would never matter in the Lord’s Kingdom.

Each saint is the Lord’s temple in which Christ resides when they invite Jesus into their heart. (*see 1 Corinthians 3:16, 6:19)

“For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.”
‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭6‬:‭20‬ ‭KJV‬‬

Conforming to the world He stressed had no place in Christ’s kingdom and can never serve Christ’s purposes. By conforming to the world He meant doing things that in a way that was not according to His will. He wanted me to abide in Him in prayer, to listen to His voice, and to trust Him by faith that He would lead me by His Holy Spirit down the right path. That He would not fail me. That He is real and not an imaginary Creator.

The Lord stressed that if I would trust Him, and do everything He asked that He would demonstrate His faithfulness to His Word. And so thirty six albums later He has not failed me and done everything exactly the way He has promised.

Jesus said, And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto Me.” John‬ ‭12‬:‭32‬ ‭KJV‬‬

He told me His reality could only be manifested as I removed my focus from this world and off myself by gazing upwards in sincere worship, living for my Savior who had given Himself without reservations to redeem our souls so that we might serve Him in the resurrection of the new lives He had purchased for us through His death on the cross.

“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I said to you.” ‭‭John‬ ‭14‬:‭26‬ ‭NASB1995‬‬

Christ would teach His children these truths through His eternal Word as they sought Him with a pure heart.

God is love.

He has no favorites. He loves each of His children as if they were the only child He had to love. He longs for each of us to come to know Him and spend time with Him each day.

Jesus promised to reveal Himself to those who would believe.

Jesus said “This is the will of Him who sent Me,

that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing,

but raise it up on the last day.

For this is the will of My Father,

that everyone who beholds the Son

and believes in Him will have eternal life,

and I Myself will raise him up on the last day.”

No one can come to Me unless

the Father who sent Me draws him;

and I will raise him up on the last day.

It is written in the prophets,

‘And they shall all be taught of God.’

Everyone who has heard

and learned from the Father,

comes to Me.”

John 6:39-40, 44-45 NASB1995

In Jesus name amen.

Valuing The Human

An innocent little six year old was mercilessly gunned down by someone in a fit of road rage recently.

I wondered how was this possible?

The Lord led me to the story of Cain and Abel in the book of Genesis.

Cain and Abel were two brothers, the children of Eve, “the mother of all the living.”

When her first son was born, Eve called him “Cain,” a name related to a word for “lament” or “wail.” Eve said, “I have gotten a man from the Lord…”

“…man” meaning:

אישׁ ‘ı̂ysh

BDB Definition: 11b) husband, 1c) human being, person (in contrast to God), 1f) champion, 1g) great man

The Bible says of Cain that he “…was a tiller of the ground.”

The word for tiller means: H5647 (Strong)

עָבַד

‛âbad, aw-bad’, A primitive root; to work (in any sense); by implication to serve, till, (causatively) enslave, etc.: be, keep in bondage, be bondmen, bond-service, compel, husbandman, keep, labour (-ing man), (be, become) servant (-s), transgress [from margin], (set a) work, be wrought, worshipper.Serve self

Where Eve seemed so filled with hope after Cain’s birth giving him a name that meant “Champion,” she seemed to have lost her faith sometime after his birth.

For she named her second son Abel which means:

הבל hâbal

BDB Definition: 1) to act emptily, become vain, be vain; 1a2) to be utterly vain;1b1) to cause to become vain; 1b2) to fill with vain hopes;

People who have lost their dream call faith “vain hope.”

Also, branding a child with such a name is akin to calling them hopeless, futile, or vanity.

It would not be any wonder then that Abel would find refuge out in the fields with his Father God while tending the sheep rather than with a family who considered him “… filled with vain hopes.”

Abel was given the name of someone whom his parents saw as having no expectations.

And this was surely to open the door for his brother to also adopt the same attitudes toward him as someone who was worthless.

It might not be difficult for a man to murder a brother whom he neither loved nor valued. For Cain had no love for his brother the Bible says.

“This is the teaching you have heard from the beginning: We must love each other. Don’t be like Cain. He belonged to the Evil One. Cain killed his brother. But why did he kill him? Because what Cain did was evil, and what his brother did was good.” 1 John 3:11-12 – ERV

Cain and Abel both offered sacrifices to God. But Abel offered a better sacrifice to God because he had faith. God said he was pleased with what Abel offered. And so God called him a good man because he had faith. Abel died, but through his faith he is still speaking.” ~ Hebrews 11:4 – ERV

After Cain had killed his brother, the Lord asked him where Abel was. Cain sarcastically replied, “I don’t know, am I my brother’s keeper?”

Keeper means:

שׁמר shâmar

BDB Definition: 1) to keep, guard, observe, give heed/ 2) 1a1) to keep, have charge of/ 3) 1a2) to keep, guard, keep watch and ward, protect, save life/ 1a3) to watch for, wait for/ 1a4) to watch, observe/ 1a5) to keep, retain, treasure up (in memory)/1a6) to keep (within bounds), restrain/ 1a7) to observe, celebrate, keep (sabbath or covenant or commands), perform (vow)/ 1a8) to keep, preserve, protect/ 1b1) to be on one’s guard, take heed, take care, beware/ 1b2) to keep oneself, refrain,/ abstain/ 1b3) to be kept, be guarded

God revealed through the Lord Jesus Christ that we are indeed to be our brother’s keeper. We are to love and to lay our lives down for one another.

Abel was asked to sacrifice His will to God even as Christ would one day be asked to sacrifice His will to the Father that all might in Him be given eternal life through His sacrificial death.

Abel gave God what He asked of him. This pleased the Lord greatly.

For Abel like Christ in effect had said, “Father I want Thy will not my will…”

How did Abel know what God’s will was?

He spent all his time with the Lord every day in a close relationship with Him.

While working in the fields he was abiding in His Maker. He listened to God speak to his heart.

God wanted something that was difficult for Abel to give Him. Something that Abel loved, prized, and valued very much. The finest of his flocks.

Yet, what else was worth having if he kept it back from God and lost his intimacy with the Lord by withholding that thing which God had asked him to sacrifice?

What could be more important than his relationship with the Lord, his Creator?

Abel knew what God required of him, he knew and cared to do God’s will.

The Bible says that the ungodly don’t care to know about or to do God’s will. They just want to please themselves.

‘“At harvest time, Cain brought a gift to the Lord. He brought some of the food that he grew from the ground, but Abel brought some animals from his flock. He chose some of his best sheep and brought the best parts from them. The Lord accepted Abel and his gift. But He did not accept Cain and his offering. Cain was sad because of this and he became very angry.” ~ Genesis 4:3-5 ERV

Cain offered to God the sacrifice of man; the sacrifice that insists on doing its own will and pleasure. Such a sacrifice may take a lot of time and effort to accomplish, and appear beautiful but it will not satisfy our Creator if it is not what He asked for.

God’s will is that we obey Him no matter what that obedience looks like, no matter how displeasing to us it seems. The Lord needs to know that His will matters to us more than our own our own will.

He created us to worship HIM. We were not created to please and worship ourselves.

Abel obeyed the Lord and offered the blood sacrifice He required. Cain did not.

Hebrews 9 explains that under the Law that without the shedding of blood there was no forgiveness of sins. A blood sacrifice was required for the atonement of the sins people had committed. That was just how it was. We may not like it or understand it. But that was why Jesus Christ, God’s Son had to die to shed His spotless blood for the sins of all humanity to redeem us and put a fallen world back in right relationship with God. This is the truth. Cain refused to believe this truth of the need for the blood sacrifice to atone for his sins to be made right with God. He would do his own work and labor to please and satisfy God. Yet, God only wanted the sacrifice of an innocent pure lamb to atone for the man’s sins. He need only go to his brother and procure a sheep to sacrifice to the Lord. It was that easy. Cain made things hard in his unbelief.

Cain was furious when he saw that God was pleased with Abel’s sacrifice and not with his own.

The Lord asked Cain, “Why are you angry? Why does your face look sad? You know that if you do what is right, I will accept you. But if you don’t, sin is ready to attack you. That sin will want to control you, but you must control it.”~ Genesis 4:6-7 – ERV

God up and told Cain His will and the man simply ignored the holy revelation! It went right over Cain’s head because he had no regard for the Lord any more than he valued his brother’s life.

If he had loved and feared the Lord then he would have obeyed Him. Christ equated love for our Lord with our obedience to Him.

Jesus said to His disciples: “If you love Me, you will do what I command.

Those who really love Me are the ones who not only know My commands but also obey them. My Father will love such people, and I will love them. I will make Myself known to them.”

…All who love Me will obey My teaching. My Father will love them. My Father and I will come to them and live with them.

But anyone who does not love Me does not obey My teaching. This teaching that you hear is not really Mine. It is from my Father who sent Me.” ~ John 14:15,21,23-24 – ERV

The rest of the story is a very sad one.

Cain said to his brother Abel, “Let’s go out to the field.” So they went to the field. Then Cain attacked his brother Abel and killed him. Later, the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”

Cain answered, “I don’t know. Is it my job to watch over my brother?”

Then the Lord said, “What have you done? You killed your brother and the ground opened up to take his blood from your hands. Now his blood is shouting to Me from the ground. So you will be cursed from this ground. Now when you work the soil, the ground will not help your plants grow. You will not have a home in this land. You will wander from place to place.”~Genesis 4:8-10,12 – ERV

The price Cain paid for his sin was enormous. Cain’s former gift of being able to till the soil successfully became a curse as God said, “Now when you work the soil, the ground will not help your plants grow.

Whereas Cain had been the family’s hope for success and prosperity, “their champion,” he now became the disappointment, the one who was truly filled with “vain hopes;”one who could no longer produce. The Lord not only took away all former expectations of success, but also drove him away, branding him with the indelible mark of a murderer, condemning him to the life of a wanderer. (*See Genesis 4:13-16)

Have we ever stopped to think of what we give up when we ignore the Lord’s voice, giving in to our stubbornness, anger, own desires, and lack of faith over simply obeying the Lord’s will?

First we must like Abel abide in Christ to love God and to know His will.

Second we must care to obey His will once He reveals that will to us.

If we don’t love others, we won’t love, honor and value our God. When we do not love and value others we disobey God’s will.

Christ said, “A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another. By this shall all men know that ye are My disciples, if ye have love one to another.” John 13:34-35 – KJV

Jesus once told a religious ruler that the two greatest commandments upon which hung the whole Law were the first two: Jesus said unto him, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment.

And the second is like unto it, “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” ~ Matthew 22:37-40 – KJV

The Apostle John wrote, “If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? And this commandment have we from Him, That he who loveth God love his brother also.” 1 John 4:20-21 – KJV

In the parable of the Good Samaritan Jesus let us know that in God’s eyes, everyone is our brother and sister. Not just people in our religious affiliations, our fellowships and social cliques. The Lord does not see as we see according to the teaching Christ gave us in that parable.

As I contemplated the enraged man who’d gunned down the innocent child on the freeway, I couldn’t help but wonder if he, like Cain, had lost his love and value for human life made in God’s holy image ~that life of which God says we are to be his keeper, his guardian, and to keep ourselves from harming.

Would that people knew God’s will and would do it!

Then I thought are we not too like that furious man when we explode like a seething time bomb with bitter words; words like lethal verbal weapons, over everything under the sun, ever finding fault, seeking to destroy with bitter criticism, accusation, and judgment, ever so quick to assume false conclusions without having all the facts? The internet and social media are daily inundated with these incidents of “virtual road rage.”

And if we regard not the life of our neighbor, resisting God’s will to be our brother’s and sister’s keeper, we absolutely do not love, fear, nor honor God our Heavenly Father, the Bible declares. (*See 1 John 4:20-21)

Jesus said, “…the bad things people say with their mouth come from the way they think. And that’s what can make people wrong. All these bad things begin in the mind: evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual sins, stealing, lying, and insulting people. These are the things that make people wrong.” Matthew 15:18-20 – ERV

“Heavenly Father, may You give us Thy divine love for one another, that we may also love and honor Thee, in Jesus’ name, amen.
