“At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven? And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” ~ Matthew 18:1-4
Lord, Help Me Learn
Lord, help me learn that to be great One must be least of all, And go into their prayer closet And spend much time with God, Laying down their lives, Seeking Jesus’ face Bearing other’s burdens In God’s secret holy place Seeking to put others first, Content to be obscure, Exalting Jesus in all things With a heart that’s pure. Obscurity, humility Is greatness in the eyes Of the Kingdom of our Lord, The Lord God Jesus Christ. In Jesus’ holy name, amen.
Heavenly Father, thank you that You love each of us without measure and will never reject anyone who comes to Jesus for salvation. Help us to love one another as You love us, to see each other through Your eyes of mercy, compassion and acceptance. Help us to obey the one commandment Thy Son left us, to love one another as He loved us, to lay our lives down for each other, to bear each other’s burdens. Help us to remember His words that others will know we are Christians by our love for each other. In Jesus’ mighty name, amen and amen.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” ~ Matthew 7:7-8
God’s word contains many beautiful promises concerning prayer. Jesus said that whatever we ask for in prayer, if we believe we receive it, we have it. Jesus also taught many other scripture promises concerning prayer and we must not ignore those very important verses. He told us to pray this way, “Our Father, who art in Heaven, holy is thy name, Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done…” (Matthew 6:9-10)
In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus Himself prayed, “Father, let this cup pass from me, yet not my will, but Thy will be done.”
There is an interesting scripture in Psalm 25 that I love and one that I cling to. “The Lord advises those who fear him.He reveals to them the intent of his promise.” ~ (Psalm 25:14 GW)
We must always pray and meditate over God’s word and ask the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and insight into every promise, weighing scripture against all other scriptures in the Bible so that we don’t take God’s word out of context and end up misunderstanding the true meaning of God’s word. Jesus taught and believed that God would answer every prayer we pray. But He also taught that we must seek God’s will first. “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Matthew 6:33)
Jesus taught that God knows all about our needs. He said, “Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God?But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.” Luke 12:6-7
God will answer all our prayers for He has promised to do so. He will answer in His own way and time and according to His will. Jesus made this very important statement about prayer to His disciples:
“Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” Luke 18:1
We must never stop praying about the things that are important to us. God has put certain desires within our hearts and we must persevere in prayer and pray about them until we see them realized. “Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven…”
Whether your prayer is for the salvation of a loved one, or for a future spouse, a broken marriage, a healing, deliverance from fear, depression, chronic pain, a need for a job, a home, strength to meet our challenges, protection from harm, the list of needs is endless…but we serve a mighty God who is able to meet ALL OF OUR NEEDS!
God hears and answers ALL of our prayers. Jesus promised this and He never lied. St. Peter wrote that there was no deceit in His mouth. But we must understand that God always gives according to His will.
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you.For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.” ~ Matthew 7:7-8
As Jesus directed, we must keep on asking, keep on knocking, keep on seeking. We must never stop praying.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, holy is Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven, in my life and in every life who is even now praying this prayer. May You answer every need and assure every heart that You will give them what they are hoping for at the right time. May You assure their hearts that You are working everything out in their lives into a beautiful masterpiece that will sing Your glory and praise someday, In Jesus’ name. Amen.
“Lord, your faithful love reaches to the sky.Your faithfulness is as high as the clouds.Your goodness is higher than the highest mountains. Your fairness is deeper than the deepest ocean. Lord, you protect people and animals. Nothing is more precious than your loving kindness. All people can find protection close to you.”
Prayer
Heavenly Father, Thank You for Thy faithfulness and mercy. Thy word promises that Thy mercies toward us are renewed each morning. Martin Luther wrote in his famous hymn, “And though this world with devils filled should threaten to undo us, we will not fear for God has willed His truth to triumph through us.” Lord, Thy Truth~ Thy very own Holy Spirit within us will never leave us nor forsake us throughout our sojourn on this earth. Lord Jesus, thank You for Thy holy Presence within us, Thy strength and Thy grace to see us through every trial. No matter what furnace we may find ourselves thrown into, You will be in it with us protecting us from the flames. Lord, You have promised in Isaiah that though we walk through the fires the flames shall not harm us. And You keep every promise forever. Thank You, precious Creator. Help us to keep focusing on You, Lord Jesus Christ and not on the evil all around us. Help us to cling to Thy words, “In this world ye shall have tribulation, but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Please Bless each soul reading this prayer with renewed faith and hope today and rivers of peace and comfort. Scatter all their fears and anxieties to the four winds and draw them ever closer to Thy heart. In Jesus’ holy name, Amen & amen.
Life is a River, deep and wide,
Sometimes filled with peace,
Sometimes filled with joyous songs,
Sometimes unfilled needs.
Sometimes its waters overflow
With endless health and strength
That dwindle to a narrow creek
Of weakness and decay.
Sometimes the waters rush into
A gaping waterfall
And suddenly a life can change
To what is there no more.
Ever rolling onward,
Onward to the sea,
With each dawn the River brings
Us to another journey.
And how we all respond
To what the River sends
Is all that really matters
When we come to the River’s end.
May we honor God
With all that the River brings
Wherever the River takes us
Till we reach Eternity.
PRAYER
Heavenly Father, help us to understand that it’s not WHAT we endure in this life that matters, but HOW we choose to endure it. May You give us the grace to honor You in every situation, no matter what may come our way, thank You, Lord, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
